Bill Ryan's appreciation days at Dugan's Dairy

Me and the boys had such a blast. We haven't been able to go the last few years because the event times always coincided with naptimes. I don't screw up naptimes, it is the only time I can get anything done or just enjoy peace and quiet. Well this year, the time was great for it, 10-2. We stayed uhntil noon. Bill Ryan basically rented out the entire place for his clients (past and present). We got to do the hayrides, have lunch and pick pumpkins. OOOh, and I can't forget the petting zoo. They had a cow you could milk, donkey, baby calf (only 20 days old), goats and a few horses. The kids had a blast. Jared wanted to pet everything he could reach. I only let Nathan in to pet the baby calf. Here are a few pictures of the kids thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Clapotis is finished

I didn't believe everyone that said the decrease would go super fast. I probably only worked on the decreases for 3-4 hours and I finished it this morning. Granted I ignored the kids while they ate breakfast and I didn't eat myself this morning, but those are small sacrifices. I love how it turned out. I had to make a trip to Fiber Factory to get some small yarn needles. All I had were those enormous tapestry ones and that just wouldn't cut it with this yarn. By the way, I used SWTC Oasis in Parrot. Just under three balls and I did one extra repeat in the straight section. It certainly won't keep me warm, but since I live in AZ, I don't need to be kept warm that often.

It will probably be a while before I make this pattern again. I have the Lion and Lamb yarn all ready to go, but I have a few winter projects that need to be finished before my youngest outgrows the sweater that I started.

Finally a knitting post

The straight section of the clapotis is done. I used SWTC Oasis in Parrot. So far I've used a little over 2 balls, by the time its done I probably will use a total of 3 balls. I really love this thing, can't wait until I finish it. Hopefully that will be this next week. I'm combining my love of knitting with scrapbooking. I joined a knitting circle journal. Basically you create a scrapbook and do the first page and then you mail the journal to the next person in the group. They add a page and then mail it on. When you get your own journal back it is full.

Here are two pictures of the clapotis. First picture is better of the clapotis, not so good of Jared. The second picture at least has a smiling Jared.

Thanks for looking!!

I know it's been a while

But I've had a hard time even remembering what I've been doing. I'm making an honest effort to update the blog on a more frequent basis. I've also been really lazy about taking photos. I've certainly taken plenty of pictures for clients, but I haven't taken that many for myself. That has to change. I'm feeling not as creative because I haven't taken as many pics of the kids.

Last night I worked inventory at Recollections. I was there from 5pm to 2:30am. Man was that a long night. I was in charge of unrolling, counting and rerolling all of the stickers. I now truthfully realize why I don't like stickers very much. I don't think I can look at another roll of stickers anytime soon. Instead of going home and getting two hours of sleep before the kids woke up, I went to my parents house in Gold Canyon and passed out in their spare bedroom. I got six hours of sleep and feel so decent. Unfortunately, I have to work the next two nights from 5-9:30. We'll see how much energy I have on Thursday for Yom Kippur. We aren't going to be able to go to Temple this year. Between watching Madi and not actually becoming a member of Temple Emanuel yet, it wasn't the right timing. We definitely will be goiing next year though.

I am actually getting some knitting done as well. I'm about done with the straight section on the clapotis. I have two more repeats that I want to do and then I'm going to start the decrease section. I'm figuring that I'll be done with it in the next week. Wishful thinking, but I really want to get it done. I'm also working on a sweater for Nathan and have started some super cute socks for Jared.
