Burn After Reading

Nick and I are off to see Burn After Reading. We can't wait, we were laughing our butts off at the previews. We wanted to see The Dark Knight, but timing wouldn't allow. Ken is watching the boys for us and he wanted to be able to watch the Cowboys game so we had to plan our movie accordingly.

Soccer Highlights

Yesterday was Nathan's first soccer game. His game started at 10am at the GYSA Soccer Field Complex. It is so organized to have all of those fields being played at the same time. It was extremely packed and very hot already by 10am. We brought our umbrella which Nathan got under every chance he could. We had plenty of water and gatorade for him and for Jared and ourselves. I'm really hoping it cools off because in a few weeks, almost all of the rest of our games will start at 11:30. I'm going to see if I can find something else for Jared to do while I take Nathan to the games because he was getting a bit bored. Luckily, yesterday he ran into one of our friends and their kids and he and Kiersten spent most of their siblings games chatting away. I doubt that we will be so lucky as to have games at the same times again.

here is a quick snapshot of the practice on Thursday night and also the game yesterday!!!!

Yesterday was Art Day, is it halloween already

I had to run into Michael's yesterday for a black journaling pen. All of mine are dry (I wonder how that ever could have happened, Jared). Of course walking through the store with Nathan in tow, he immediately reminds me that he is being super duper good and doesn't that deserve something. Yes, it does, as long as it is super duper cheap. While Lily naps, we try to do quiet activities so a craft is usually the perfect thing. The wooden things for Halloween are just $1.29 a piece, perfect for a project for a 4 year old. I had the acrylic paints already. He couldn't wait for me to put her down for her nap so he could bust out with the brushes and newspaper.

Although I don't have any pictures of this, Jared is taking piano lessons from Elements Music. It seems to be a travelling program for the schools in Gilbert. I'm sure they go to other districts as well. They teach the kids to play songs that they want to learn and in between through in rhythm and tempo and yesterday he learned the names of the notes. he really loves practicing. One of the first melodies he learned was from Beethoven's Ode to Joy. He has always loved classical since watching/listening to the Little Einstein's show on Disney. OOOh, I'll have to remember to take a video of him playing.

tomorrow's post will include pics of Nathan's soccer practice. Didn't get any pics last week with the big dust storm that we had. Camera was grounded and couldn't come out of the car.

This is Monumental

I found this video through Cathy Zielske's blog. It is called the Beckoning of Lovely. It is a video by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. I sat here and just watched this video. It is just amazing, I'm tearing up thinking about all of those people coming together to do this. So amazing, I just said that. Go watch it, you will love it.

The boys first baseball game, royal treatment

I meant for this post to come up a few months ago, but life got in the way, school started and lots of birthdays in between. We went to the Diamondbacks and Dodgers game on July 20th. Ken had gotten the four of us tickets for the game as a gift to Nick for his birthday. The tickets were for the Gila River suite. I think the kids think now that all baseball games will be as cushy as this one was. There were about 20 seats in the suite and it is a really large room so the boys got to run around and not fall down 15 flights of stairs or anything. Plus, there was plenty of yummy food to be had that we usually don't let them eat, like brownies and cookies. I mean, we do let them eat that stuff, but not to the extent that they got it that day. We all had a great time at the game, enjoying the atmosphere. The boys really got into the chanting, Beat LA. We had to hear that at home for a few days after as well. I brought Rogue with me to work on, not that I'm not a baseball fan, but I'm not. I was there to enjoy the day with my family, but what was wrong with bringing my knitting with me as well!!!!!

Here are a few pictures from the day, Enjoy

So excited for 90210

Okay, it is probably going to be a pretty crappy show, but I at least have to watch the season premiere of 90210. I watched the original version all the way until the end. It was one of the few shows that I followed through high school mainly because the characters were supposedly my age as well as graduating in the same year that I did, 1993. I'm sure this version will not hold up to my high hopes, but there are so many shows that I used to watch that aren't on tv anymore, that maybe this one can take up an hour of my night or at the very least provide some mindless entertainment after the kids are in bed.

Elisabet and Courtney's wedding day

Day 3 in Hendersonville is the Wedding Day. Elisabet had planned for a girls breakfast in Asheville. We all met outside of their little house and were off. Asheville is 30 minutes from Hendersonville. I got up a bit early as I always do, got showered and took a walk around downtown. The 62nd Annual Apple Festival started today as well. Of course the booths didn't open until 9 (which was the time we were leaving). I wanted apples. I asked one of the booths and they opened up a bit early for me. Awesomely nice people. I got Honey Crisps.

Breakfast was at the Early Girl Cafe. Asheville is an artsy urban area. Very cute little streets all over the place. I got lost and Elisabet told me there was a yarn shop right next door for motivation to find my way. She knows me well. Actually all of these small streets are pretty damn confusing. I did find my way, just a few minutes late. While this restaurant wasn't vegetarian, it did have a yummy selection of non-meat items. I went for the Vegetable Benny. It was a fried grits cake, covered with spinach, a tomato salsa, over easy eggs and avocado. It was so freakin good. I picked to have a biscuit instead of toast seeing as how I was in the south, felt fitting. They had the best raspberry jam. I ended up buying a jar and have already gone through a good portion of it. LOL

I went into the yarn shop, Purl's. It was a very nice shop, quite big actually. Filled with lots of the usual yarns, nothing too out of the ordinary, a few things I hadn't touched before. It was organized by color, very pretty, but since I didn't have a plan for anything to make, the color organization did me no good. I of course gravitated to the greens and blues and nothing really caught my eye as necessary. Truthfully nothing was really going to fit into my suitcase other than a few apples.

Then we just spent the rest of the day getting ready for the wedding. Just all of the odds and ends stuff that needed to be done. The priest at the church was adamant about everything starting exactly at 4:30. We even got a four minute warning, he was serious, it was pretty funny, but everyone got dressed and ready just in the knick of time. Brian walked Elisabet down the aisle. She was so beautiful and Courtney was in awe. The wedding itself was beautiful, full of lots of crying, everyone was emotional, but in a really good way. When the wedding was done, we walked downtown to the apple festival to take photos. It was awesome the reaction that the two of them got. I don't have pictures of that as I put my camera down. Dinner was just awesome, full of lots of local flair and the cake was exactly what Elisabet and Courtney were hoping it was going to be.
