Nathan's first fieldtrip

His first school supported fieldtrip was this morning to Mother Nature Farm. I wouldn't say that I'm terribly fond of this place, it is always very dusty and dirty, but this year they seem to have picked up the place a bit better. The kids all had a great time and that is really all that matters. They each got to pick a pumpkin out of the patch and then decorate it, then onto a hayride and then we were free to explore. We looked at all of the animals, went through the hay maze (a few times), then just all and all explored the entire place. We were there for two hours and were on the go the entire time. He inhaled the lunch I brought in about 10 seconds. Lily finished hers about as quick. Thankfully since the kids can't ride on a schoolbus yet all of the parents had to come, which also meant that Nathan was able to go since I was able to take Lily.

Rogue is finished

And it only took me a year. hahahahaha. I put it in Ravelry as October 2007 and I got it done yesterday. I have finished a ton of projects in between working on this, but this was the main project I have done for the last year. I absolutely love how it turned out, the cables are amazing and my adjustments to the body and sleeve length were just what was needed. Rowan All Seasons Cotton worked great for this pattern as a non-wool substitute. it is so soft and still very warm. I tried it on and went outside yesterday afternoon, I will have no problem keeping warm this winter (or whatever we have of one).

Pattern: Rogue
Needles: US size 7 for everything
Yarn: Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Mocha
Time: forever, but well worth it

I thought I was going to run out of yarn when I was starting the hood so I contacted a few others on Ravelry with the same dyelot and was able to get myself a few extra skeins. It ended up that I only need 1/2 of one of those skeins to finish the project. Not too shabby.

Just another family picture

This time of my parents with the kids. We go over to their house almost every Sunday for whole wheat pancakes and craziness. We got to eat outside for breakfast since the weather is so nice in the mornings now. Their house is open to a wash/desert, it is an amazing view.

As we were leaving, I had the lightbulb moment to take a picture of the kids and my parents, not the best of my ideas. I got one, before Nathan started to act up, but it was cute nonetheless.

A Drizzly Saturday afternoon

Nathan had a great soccer game on Saturday, no pics though, left the camera at home. He was a bit grouchy at first because this was a later game and was starting to interfere with lunchtime. I had brought PB&J and cantaloupe, so that cheered him right up. We got home, showered and dressed again and just started hanging out. Jared wanted a lazy day, as shown by this picture.

Nathan had other ideas, it started to sprinkle a bit around 3pm so he wanted to go riding bikes and playing in the rain. It wasn't downpouring so we went for it. he had a blast and Jared just stayed inside, 1st grade is requiring a lot of downtime on the weekends.

Heather came over for World Cardmaking day and we crafted with the kids first and then just us once they finally went to bed after 10,000 excuses.
