Someone is almost 3 years old

Can you take a guess?????? Nathan turns 3 on July 2nd. We just can't believe he is already that old, in the last few months he has really gone through a few growth spurts. He just doesn't have that baby look anymore. Still has the devious look, but not the baby look. I guess we traded one for the other. His birthday party will be all about construction vehicles. That is about all he is into right now. Of course that was after I had already bought all of the Cars goodies for the party. Oh well. I'll be sure to post some pictures from the party on Sunday.

I haven't been doing much knitting, way too damn hot for that. I just want to hole up in the house and not move, the thought of holding wool in my hands makes me want to cringe. I did get about 10 rows knitted on the Leaf Lace Shawl, but that was on the airplane to and from California. Haven't picked it up since and it certainly doesn't look any bigger so why both taking yet another picture of it.

Have a great weekend!!

Leaving on a quick trip

Originally all four of us were supposed to be making this quick trip to see our friends and their new baby in Los Angeles. it turns out that I quasi forgot the dates that we were dogsitting for this cute guy. Rex is such a good dog, loves the kids since he gets to see them all the time. Of course he was really missing his family and wanted to sleep with Jared. He ended up sleeping on the foot of our bed. We are going to try to keep him off of Jared's bed for allergy reasons only.

The other fun thing for sitting for a neighbor with a pool is that we were given free reign of using it any time that we wanted while they were gone. We were over there twice yesterday already, here are a few pics that I was able to get of the boys.

I'll only be gone a little over an 24 hours, be back by 5pm tomorrow. If I get the okay from Deb I'll post pics of their new baby. I vacuum packed my black backdrop to make it fit in the carryon I am bringing. I'm hoping for a few areas in their house to put it up. I'm used to working within the space confines that I'm given so I'm sure it will all be good.

See you all tomorrow!!!

The Police were amazing

It was such a great show, totally a once in a lifetime experience. Whether the three bandmates hate each other or not, you couldn't tell. They were a great team. We had really great seats, lower level, we were just under the suites. Yes, we were behind the stage, but it was still a great seat. The Police were great and turning around every once in a while so we could see their faces, not that I minded the view that I was provided with. Sting is in amazing shape. We have seen him play a few times, but obviously this is the first time Nick and I have seen the Police. In the year that they disbanded (1984), I was 9 and Nick was 11. I vividly remember watching MTV and seeing the Police videos and just loving them for as long as I could remember. They played everything you would expect them to play, some of the songs were just like the old days, others were changed up a bit. Totally fine with me. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and so did Nick.

Here is the best that I could get with my camera, much better pics are at www.azcentral.com.

Pretty Great Deal at Safeway, Police Concert is Tomorrow

There is a pretty great deal at Safeway going on right now. Basically, if you buy 2 12 packs of Pepsi, you get two free plus a case of water. And then there is another deal where if you buy 10 Pepsi products, you get yourself a $25 giftcard from their Giftcard Mall. Here is what I purchased, 4 12 packs of Pepsi, got another 4 12 packs for free, two free cases of Refreshe water and 2 bags of Tostitos. Grand total was right around $25, and then I got a $25 iTunes gift card. iTunes giftcard went to Nick and he is already getting ready to purchase some new tunes

Now I'm not a fan of Pepsi products, wayyy too sweet for me, but we are going over to Tony and Tanya's for a Father's Day BBQ and they were going to be buy some drinks anyways, so there goes the Diet Pepsi and some of the Sierra Mist. Then we have Nathan's birthday party in two more weeks so there will go the rest, and of course the Tostitos will be eaten quite promptly.

Oh, and we are going to the Police concert tomorrow night, we are so very excited. This is pretty much a once in a lifetime concert and we are so thankful that Elisabet helped us get the tickets. It is our anniversary present to each other, on Wednesday, it will be nine years. Happy Anniversary sweetheart, I am so thankful to be married to you.

Happy Father's Day to all of the father's out there.

First Sleepover and sock update

My little man is no more, he is going on his first sleepover. Okay, it is over at his cousin's house, but they will be camping. I asked that they camp in the living room just in case the real "outdoors" upset his allergies. He has his backpack all packed, sleeping bag and everything else necessary. I think that BIL and SIL will be up very early in the morning and they will be bringing him back at the crack of dawn (which is when he wakes up). It will be fun. Here are a few pictures of him before we left for their house.

This sock has gone so quickly. I love knitting it. So far I'm almost done with the gusset increases. Next task is the short rows, which I have never been good at, I'm hoping that this time around I'll be able to figure it out. Especially since I'll be able to watch the Knitty Gritty episode that I recorded on Tivo. Here is sock #1 lounging in the grass just now.

Wonderful Craftiness this week

And it is only Wednesday morning. This week I was supposed to have been headed to California to photography my friend Deb's new baby. She ended up needing some more recovery time so we postponed the trip for two weeks. Instead I got out of the house for a few hours each of the days that I would have been gone. I got to hang out with the boys and Nick, plus do some crafty things as well. Monday, I went to a little scrapbook store down the street and did a few pages and some Father's Day cards. On Tuesday, I met Wannabe for some knitting at Starbucks and then ran a few errands after that. Knitting was so much fun, we just talked and talked, hardly got any knitting done, but that is usually what happens. I talked about casting on for Twinkle Toes and when I got home, that is exactly what I did. Here is what I have this morning,

It is Artyarns Supermerino in color 127, using size 4's. I've never done a toe up sock before so I have already learned so much, it was so much fun to watch this on Tivo about 10 times to really understand. Thank goodness for Tivo.

Bummer of the week is that the boys both came down with fevers and colds yesterday. Jared basically didn't really catch it, but Nathan has, oh the joys of being a few years younger. Shouldn't hinder them too much, nothing that a bit of Tylenol can't solve.

Oh, and when I do go back to Cali in two weeks, we are all going out together for the two days. It will be a super quick trip especially since 12 hours out of the two days will be spent in the minivan, but it will be so much fun to see them and get to go to the beach for a quick little trip.

Only a crazy father

Nick is such a goofball, one of the many traits that I love so much about him. Here he is being a catepillar monster. We have two of the play tunnels from assorted camping sets, they are tied together and he is standing inside them. In the second part of the picture, he is "eating" Jared. See, totally hilarious

Let's backtrack to the weekend, Saturday, Home Depot had a Kids Clinic, if you got there early you got to build a biplane (which was the whole reason we were going). We got there right when they started and both boys got to build the airplanes, of course it really meant that Nick and I got to build airplanes. There was too much hammering involved. The boys got to do all of the gluing, but neither of us thought they should be wielding hammers at their tender ages.

Later in the day, Nathan was so cashed out, he almost fell asleep with his cup in his mouth.

Yesterday, Nick told me that all he wanted for Father's Day was a new picture of the boys. I took him up on it and dragged them all outside last night before the last bit of light was gone. I haven't decided what configuration of photos I will use, but here is one. I just can't get over how much they both look like their daddy. I get a bit of Jared, but Nathan is 100% a mini-Nick.

Friends

This summer has been so much fun so far. We have spent time with great friends many times already and it will become a weekly event. We invited the girls over for a playdate today. We don't have a pool, but we have one of the big blow up slides, a Bonzai Blast. It was so much fun for all of them. Of course it also helps that our neighbors are amazingly friendly people as well and let us use their pool this morning. So after the kids were bored of the slide, we went swimming. Nick even got to join in on the act since he didn't have to be at work until 2pm. I was able to kindly ask him to BBQ hotdogs and burgers for us. I completely suck at grilling, Nick tells me that I don't pay enough attention, probably right, the kids are usually on my heels and so I try to keep them away from the grill aparatus as much as possible. Amazing lunch, followed by a quiet movie for the kids. It only occupied their minds for about 15 minutes before they started wrestling, two three year olds (I'm already counting Nathan as a 3 year old, just a month shy) and two five year olds. Here is a picture of the four of them.

We are going to go to Home Depot in the morning for their kids project, it is a biplane. Both kids have a love of airplanes so it should be good fun. I'll do my best to take pictures, but I'll be helping one of them so it may be a bit hard.

Have a great weekend!!
