Last night's misc. craftiness

Actually the first thing that I got done yesterday was the kids CARS pillows. I was having a hard time finding the fabric in stock locally so I ended up getting it on eBay. I am really happy with it, it is super bright and nice and soft. I bought one bag of polyfill for each one and the kids got to stuff it themselves. My house looks like a snowball fight occurred. I hope it doesn't screw up our vacuum, but I have to get it up off the carpet somehow, any suggestions??? The boys woke up this morning and they both told me thank you again for their new pillows. That makes it so worthwhile.

Next up are the cards that I got done last night while Heather came over and a layout that I did of layout about a week ago. Yes, I am knitting, but the two rows that I got done on the sleeves aren't that special right now.

Snow Cute

We had such a blast today in the snow. Jared went to school for the morning and then I picked him up at lunchtime and we headed to the Cinch Hook snowplay area. It is about 10 minutes farther past Strawberry. I called the ranger station this morning and she said there was still plenty of snow to sled on, so off we went. My buddy Elisabet came with us (she went up there over the weekend and just couldn't get enough). The boys both fell asleep on the way up, perfect nap timing, the woke up refreshed and ready to play. I borrowed plenty of clothes for this trip. My neighbor lent us all of the clothes for the boys (her kids have outgrown it all, but she saves it anyways) and one of the ladies that I work with let me borrow her snowboarding pants. All of us were very warm and toasty in our winter garb.

This was the first experience with snow for either boy and it will not be the last, we basically had to drag them kicking and screaming back to the van to leave.

First pair of socks are done

It took me forever to get the first sock done, probably about two months (it wasn't the only project I was working on though), the second sock only took about a week. In fact I knit most of it while on the planes to and from Florida visiting my grandparents. I just finished the toe last night, they fit really good. I'm totally hooked, not that I have a choice, I love sock yarn.

Now I can work on some other UFO's, namely the Not your Standard Issue Sweatshirt, Version 2. I definitely want to get it done before it gets warm again.

Jared's 100th day of school was today and they are having a celebration, each kid is bringing in 100 of something and they will be doing math all day. Jared picked out mini marshmallows as his 100. It was hilarious to watch him count. He was counting them by two's, but would on purpose (mathematically impossible, I know) get 11 in each pile so he could eat the extras. We are so proud of him, counting by two's, ten's and even 100's.

Heading home right now

I'm sitting at the airport trying to figure out how to kill almost two hours before our flight takes off. I am going to see how many pictures I can delete from iPhoto before we take off. Everything is backed up at home already, but I need to make some free space on this thing so it can run more efficiently.

Here is a final picture of my parents on the beach:

Lots of Florida pictures

Our first of two full days here before heading home. We had a great morning over at Grandma and Grandpa's house, nice and relaxing. I got a few great pictures of everyone in the morning and then dad and I left to go to lunch with my great aunt Corinne. Aunt Corinne is my Grandma Mollie's sister. Before we headed back she gave me the hebrew names of their two brothers (Abe and Irving). Since the boys haven't been given hebrew names yet, it was awesome that she thought of this. We are planning on joining the Temple Emanuel this year. Total digression there.......My grandma had a dr.'s appt. so we had a leisurely lunch on the beach at this restaurant called Aruba. After lunch we headed back to grandma and grandpa's house and we went to this Wetlands refuge. I think it is a water treatment plants leftover space, but it was sprawling, at least 10-15 acres if not more, totally beautiful. There were supposed to be a few alligators in there, but we didn't see any, but I did get to see plenty of turtles and there were a handful of Great Blue Herons there. I've been steadily working on the other Broadripple sock, just got done turning the heel. I should have it almost done by the time we touch back down in Phoenix on Thursday night.

I'm in Florida safe and sound

Just a quick shout out from the Delray Beach Marriott. We made it safe and sound, only a four hour flight, although my parents told me it would be five hours on the way back. We went right to my grandparents house, which is about a hour away from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. I know now that I get motion sickness in the backseat. It was all I could do to keep from puking in the car. I will now sit up front and my mom can sit in the back. I can't believe how many knickknacks in my grandparents house I recognize. I don't think I've been in Florida since I was a teenager (that is when they started coming out to AZ to visit). I'll take pictures of their house tomorrow when there is daylight. We ate at a really good italian restaurant, Mamma Mia. Luckily there was a Publix next to the restaurant so I could get the facial cleanser and hair gel that I had to leave at home due to the 3 oz airplane restriction. Don't ask, but we didn't check any baggage.

Here is the one picture I took today, in the bar at the hotel.

A gift for Grandma and Grandpa

I'll be heading to Florida on Monday to visit my grandparents and wanted to give them some updated pictures of the kids. I got great pictures of them playing yesterday and put together this book highly based on Ali's miniBOOK she did the other day.

My neighbor is a bad bad influence

She called me at 5:30 when I was about to get dinner started and offered up a glass of wine. I said sure I'd come over, who was I to pass up some nice chit chat with my neighbor. Her kids and my kids get along really good, they had just gotten back from the zoo fulled stocked with kettle corn. Jared and Nathan mowed it and so did I. Now I'm trying to get them to eat dinner and it isn't happening, I just had them split a corndog and will be lucky if between them they eat half. Oh well. They had a good time and so did I. Sometimes that is worth it. I'm going to make myself a salad tonight though, I need to start eating healthier, even if that just includes a few more salads and a few less " with whip" mochas from Starbucks.

A Happy Happy Sound

It is the sound of our 2.5 year old son (almost to the day) announcing to us over the last week that he needed to go poop in the potty.

We are potty trained.

I think the motivation definitely came in the form of the Geotrax box that includes a new train and windmill sitting in the garage. But hey, I don't care, if it worked it worked. Nathan was totally ready, he loves doing everything that his brother does so going to the bathroom was just one of his happy copycat times. Sorry no pictures of the happy event, just sparing everyone the messy details. We are off to Target to get some more Cars undies.

Last things I did before midnight

Othan than cleaning up the house and trying to get Nathan to stay asleep (he took a long afternoon nap), I'm almost done with my first sock and I got a layout done of Lily. What is more important is that I was able to scrapbook on my table in the office. I organized my whole area over the last few days and I actually used products that have been sitting idle for some time. Felt really good.

I'm going to Florida next week to visit my grandparents and I'm vowing to get that other damn sock done by the time I get back. I figure 10 hours of plane flights (thankfully non-stop flights), plus plenty of time hanging out in Boynton Beach will allow me to finish the other sock. I don't have any books to read so unless I get some new magazines in the mail this week, the socks will be what I work on. I'm going to bring the not your standard issue sweater along as well. There is a knitting group that meets at the Borders in Boca Raton, but I don't know that I'll be able to get out of the house to go or not.

Hope everyone had a safe New Year's Eve!!!!
