Photo inspiration

Okay, so the scrapbooking weekend has totally inspired me to take more photos. Photos of the everything things that make our lives important. Here are a few of them.

CKU Day 2

Today was the actual first day of CKU and it started off brigh at early with our album track. We met Ali Edwards, the amazing life artist who was going to lead us through this awesome album, A Week In the Life. Here is the box of goodies and the album that we were given for the track. She is simply an amazing woman. Her attitude on life is a great one. One of her big mottos is It Is Okay. In a world where we can worry about every single little detail, this motto is a breath of fresh air. Check out her blog, even if you aren't a scrapbooker, her viewpoints are true ones. I took most of my photo ops on this day. here I am with Ali. There was also a surprise visiter for the weekend, Tara Whitney came up from Souther Cali to visit with Ali and Cathy. Her photography inspires me every day to try new things.

After the album track time, we had a few classes. I learned a ton of new techniuqes. I don't necessarily know that they will all end up on my scrapbook pages, but you never know. In either case, they were fun to learn and so many goodies were handed out during them. We ended the night with a crop in our album track. Back with those amazing women who were capturing their daily lives for a week.

Fiber Factory Sale

I just couldn't pass up the Fiber Factory pre-inventory sale. Everything in the store was 25% off. My mom had gotten my a gift certificate for my birthday and Tony and Tanya had given me some birthday $$$ as well. It all went with me today. I bought some Interlacements in a pink/purple/two shades of green colorway for the Lace Leaf Shawl. I also got Berrocco Touche (cotton/rayon) in a slate blue for Rogue. I'm hoping that it holds the cables, looking at their display in the store, it looks like it will work. I also picked up yarn for two Wallaby's for the kids. Nathan will get a medium blue and Jared picked out a varigated brownish color. That should hold me over for the next year on top of everything else that I already have yarn for.

CKU day 1

yesterday was the first official day for classes at CKU-Albums in San Jose. It was a day filled with alot of cheering and yelling, getting to people 600 other women who enjoy the same hobby as I do. Very cool. From 9:30-4 was make n takes time. You just walk around to about 20 tables making different pages with different techniques. Elisabet and I only ended up doing about 5 of the projects. We just got burned out. We decided to get some extra photos uploaded to Costco and take a tour of the surrounding area. Why a tour, well it was more like getting lost over and over again. Everywhere we turned we ended up on a different road or freeway. The streets are nothing like Phoenix where everything is a grid. These cities here are all squirrelly. Very beautiful little bungalow homes, but we couldn't find our way around to save our lives. We did get to meet a few scrapbooking celebraties, the only one we got a picture with is Cathy Z. She has an awesomely simple style that is so class, but very unique at the same time. She is a Mac geek as wella, we were in good company.

San Francisco

This is a way picture heavy post. Not going to say much. The weather was outstandingly nice today and very unusual for June. It was clear, sunny and warm. We took a 2.5 hour tour of San Francisco from a cable car. Highly recommended, we got to see the whole city that way, including parts that you usually wouldn't.

Kent and I. We met online through a knitting circle journal. She lives here.

Elisabet and I. We are the crazies doing this scrapbooking thing.

Palace of Fine Arts. Built for a Worlds Fair. Amazing structures.

Anniversary picture

On Tuesday, Nick and I celebrated our 8th anniversary. We didn't do anything special but we were home together almost all day and that was special all by itself. We ordered take out from Pf Changs, awesome as usual, kicked back after the kids went to sleep and just had a great day.

Here's to many more years honey!!!

Airport

We are at the airport, sitting in the waiting area. Go through security wasn't that bad, it is the first time that I have flown post 9/11 and it was definitely different, but it was nice to be that safe. I took a picture on my phone of the plane and sent it to Nick so he can show the kids when he gets home. I just keep thinking they just woke up and found Grandma and Papa there instead of me. Jared knew this was going to happen, but Nathan had no clue. he did wake up a few times last night though so he must have sensed something was different.

Expect some pictures from San Francisco late tonight.

take care

Food Cravings

Cravings in anticipation of my trip on Wed. I’m flying into San Jose early Wed morning for the CKU-Albums convention. I can’t wait, not just for scrapbooking for three days straight, but for all of the food that I’m going to eat. Granted it will all be eaten on Wed. when we are touring San Francisco, but still it counts. In no particular order, I’d like to eat Ghiradelli chocolate in some sort of a sundae form, sourdough bread hot out of the oven and some really good fish from a seafood restaurant. I think we’ll be able to accomplish that. We are taking a sightseeing tour of San Francisco on a trolley car. It has been at least 10 years since I’ve been there and my friend Elisabet has never gone so it will be a treat for both of us. The tour starts and ends at Pier 39 so there will be plenty of shopping opportunities and hopefully a great seafood restaurant is right there as well.

Quick requests for restaurants in San Fran/San Jose!!

I'm going to be leaving for CKU-A on Wed morning and I'm going to need some great places to eat. My friend and I are taking a sightseeing tour that starts and ends at Pier 39 so anything lunchish over there is good. I definitely need some Ghiradelli as well, so I'm sure we'll venture back to Ghiradelli Square for dessert. The rest of the time that we are there we will be in San Jose, but we have a rental car so driving isn't out of the question.

Any suggestions???

Happiness today

I'm listening to the cutest thing right now. I got Nick a new phone for Father's Day and he gave his old one to the boys. They are using the record message/speakerphone feature to leave me little messages. Jared keeps recording over and over again how much he loves me and loves everybody. It is adorable when a 4 year old says that. He is being serious, truthful, yet so adorable at the same time.

Picture of the day, 6/4/06

Here is just one picture of an almost two year old today. He is looking so grown up lately, I really want him to stay a baby forever, but at the same time I'd love to be sleeping through the night. Maybe tomorrow his brother will be cooperative and I can get a good shot of him as well.

Tons of pages got done

I had such a good time scrapbooking last night at Devine Memories. Why there you ask, since I work at Recollections. Here's the deal, when I scrap somewhere else I actually got something done rather than when I got to work to scrap, I get bugged by customers were don't realize I'm not on the clock. I was able to get 6 pages done last night, total record for me. Friends Debbie and Jackie joined me, their daughters go to the JCC with Jared so we've become buddies as well. Insted of posting a picture of each layout, if you want to see them, click here. I haven't been knitting as much this week because I was preparing my pages for scrapbooking. This week will be all about knitting though, even if I can't make it to SnB on Tuesday. Not for sure yet, but I need to spend some time at home, hubby needs help with the kids at night especially since he needs to get sleep.

Only 3 weeks to go before I leave for my vacation. I can't wait, I'm getting very excited about going by myself, although I wish we could all go. Hopefully we'll get in a quick San Diego trip before Jared starts school the middle of August. Nathan is getting better at longer car rides and I'm sure if we buy those DVD players that attach to the headrests, it will be okay. We've got to try to take him somewhere, can't stay home forever. I miss the beach.
