These kids have spunk

Our two boys definitely keep us on our toes, literally. We are constantly running around with them. Yesterday was no exception. Jared had yet another half day, so Nick dropped him off at my work and then we went to pick up Nathan from school. Since my allergies have been kicking me lately, I wanted to go straight home and not open up any windows or doors. Oh, I know how beautiful it is outside right now, but I'll live inside, thank you very much. I don't know what I did to deserve this, but they actually cooperated with me when I asked to take some new pictures of them. Granted it was very short lived cooperation, but something is better than nothing.

I've been knitting a bit also, can't seem to fit in as much as I would like, but I managed to get one baby sock knitted this week. I'm just about done with its mate and then it will be going to a not yet born baby boy of one of the ladies from the scrapbook store. Her shower is a few weeks away, imagine that, I got something done early.

I've also started working on Rogue, the Secret of the Stole and the Leaf Lace Shawl. Slowly but surely everything will get done.

Scrapping with Elisabet tonight, I'll have pages or cards to show tomorrow.

Apple Festival at Slide Rock

We went up to the Slide Rock Apple Festival over the weekend. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be, but that didn't matter once we got going and the kids starting having such a good time. By the time Sunday rolled around there were no more apples on the trees, which was the disappointing part, but we got kettle corn, played in the hay maze and went down to Slide Rock. I had actually never been there. I know this may sound crazy to some that know that I am a native, but we just never did that. We went to Sedona a lot, but it was mainly for hiking and playing in the creek. Slide Rock is going to be a lot of fun when the kids are much older, right now they aren't the best of swimmers and I'm afraid they would get carried away and not be able to get out of the water. Mom fear to the max.

Here are the pics of our day:

A hat for a friend

I finished a very early Xmas gift for a friend. Andrea moved to Denver in May so this will be her first winter there. I felt I could not in good conscious wait until December to send her this hat. She'll probably be needing it much sooner. I plan on making another version of this same hat in another color and that one will arrive at the appropriate time.

Here is the Utopia Hat as modeled by Jared. It turned out a little on the short side, but it fits adults too. I tried it on as well. It will be in the mail this week to her. The second version will be made a bit longer though, to try to cover ears in the freezing cold.

Yarn: Malabrigo in natural, took about 3/4 of a skein
Needles: size 8's, 20 inch
Time: two weeks, knitting only a few minutes at a time.
