Train park again

Please pardon any typing errors today, I was putting an extra carseat into the car and smashed my pinkie. the whole tip of my pinkie finger is black and blue. BAsically all shifting and enter hitting are being done with another finger. I'm just hoping I can stll knit tonight.

We have been up at Uncle Jim and marco's a bunch this week because we had Christmas Day dinner over there and Nick's Uncle Dick has been staying there as well. Well today we headed up in the afternoon for some bike riding. The boys are excellent when theya re occupied. The bike riding was awesome, they both loved it and then Madi showed up and joined them on a ride as well. Get them back inside the house and it is land of the hellions. It was almost closing time at the McCormick Stillman Train Park but I didn't care. I had eight tickets left so I packed up the boys and got Madi in the car as well. Jim's house is conveniently located just two miles from the train park so we got there just in time to ride one of the last trains of the day. I got a few pics of the kids, not terribly cooperative, but who cares.

Nathan was so wiped out that on the way home back to our house he fell asleep @ 6pm. He is still asleep now so I think he is out for the count.

Oh and I finished the first Rogue sleeve. I absolutely love it. I'm going to try to start the second sleeve as soon as I'm done posting this. I'm gonna be pissed if my finger gets in the way of that.

A truly last minute knitted gift

I just started watching my little niece this week. It was a great week, BTW. Having a toddler in the house has made my own children pick up their toys for fear that they will be eaten/broken. Love how that happens. On the first day, she followed me into our closet as I was putting away some laundry and she spied a Baby Bobbi Bear that I had originally planned on giving her last Christmas and never got it finished. She yanked it down and immediately started hugging it and rubbing her face into the bear. It is made out of Blue Sky Alpacas Cotton in baby pink so that little bear is buttery soft, can't blame her for loving it. No good reason for me not to get it done in time for this Christmas. I only had to knit on the second arm and make two ears, attach them and add a face. Sometimes knitted items just have to hibernate for a while, as this one did. The bear is all done now and into the gift bag for her to open Christmas Eve. Here is a picture of it, so cute.

No Excuses

I truthfully have no excuses for the lapse in posting. We went the whole eight days of Hanukkah without posting. I promise to post a collage at the least in the next few days. I'm sure there will be a bit more backtracking as well.

With all of the rain that we have had the last few weeks, we had the opportunity to discuss rainbows with the boys. It seemed like every time we went out there was another one in the sky. It was very exciting for them. So think how cool it was to see a rainbow in our own house. We have a very tacky glass outdoor hanging light in the entryway. Well it was creating prisms onto the wall and they were ecstatic at seeing them.

I have been doing a bit of knitting. This first item was finished two weeks ago, but I wasn't able to post a picture of it until today. The recipient is in the air right now on his way to visit everyone in the Fiori clan. This was only the second pair of mittens that I have knit not because I don't like mittens but because we really don't have use for them here. Uncle Dick hails from Iowa though, so he will be keeping his hands quite toasty.

The last little bit of knitted goodness is my almost done first sleeve for the Rogue sweater. I'm almost done adding 12 rows to the sleeve length before I begin the cap shaping. I just like my sweaters longer, in the arms and in the body so I'll be adding a few rows to that part as well. Whenever I get to that part. This sleeve has taken me a lot longer than I imagined that it would, but as long as I finish it before next fall, I'll be happy.
