Last Days of School for this year
I can't believe that this past week was the last week of school until August. It really seems like the year has flown by for both boys. Nathan has grown up so much since starting preschool last August and we saw huge changes in Jared in the past year. Nathan can almost recognize all of the letters in the alphabet, but he can definitely pick them all out if you ask him to find them. He even is starting to write his name, how cool is that. Jared is reading and writing everything that he sees. He loves reading and has no qualms about even trying to read the words that are a bit hard. He got through memorizing 100 sight words and has just surprised us constantly with the information that is already stored in his head.
The week before school got out Jared came down with Strep. That kept him out of school for two days, but he was down and out for five if you include the weekend and the night that he got sick. He was fever free for the last two days of school so at least he was able to go for the really fun end of the year stuff. They had fun center activities planned for Wed, but his highlight was being chosen as one of the Character Counts kids for the month of May, it was CARING. How cool is that??? He got to have breakfast with the principal, Dr. Coleman on Wednesday morning. The last day of school they were to only bring pillows and themselves, it was movie day, Alvin and the Chipmunks. He really liked the movie and I got a cute picture of him with his friends as I walked him to his teachers' line on his last day as a Kindergartner. It is hilarious how at 5-6 they already know how to throw up the rabbit ears when somebody is getting their picture taken. I thought it was hilarious.

Nathan had a blast as well, his last day was Friday and they got their diplomas and got to play in the bounce house that was setup in the multipurpose room. The day ended with an all out potluck sponsored by the parents. I think Nathan is really going to miss his teacher, Mrs. Kathy. She was amazing with the kids and they loved her. We really thought that he was going to have a super hard time adjusting to not being with one of us since he had been a major clingon, but he went into that classroom and never looked back. I love all of the things that he learned, not only about the religion, but also about being a good friend and academic stuff as well. The majority of his class will be moving up together to the Pre-k class taught by Ms. Janet.

have a great weekend!!!
